Personalization Is a System, Not a Toggle

Midjourney Personalization steers the model toward your rated aesthetic. On V8.2 especially, profiles with deep rating history “understand” taste more reliably, and new profiles train against a larger image pool. That only helps if you treat Personalization like a design system: named profiles, clear jobs, and IDs saved where the team can find them.

This tutorial covers profiles, Moodboards, --p usage, and how to operationalize everything inside MidassAI Studio.

Step 1 — Rate With Intent

Open the Personalize flow and rate images in focused sessions:

• Prefer decisive likes/dislikes over random scrolling.
• Rate inside the visual world you want (product, fashion, film stills)—mixed junk ratings muddy the profile.
• V8.2 rewards profiles with substantial points; shallow profiles underperform.

Create separate profiles when aesthetics conflict. “Clinical ecommerce” and “neo-noir music video” should never share one brain.

Step 2 — Create and Name Profiles

1. Set the default version you care about (V8.2 for new work) before creating a profile.
2. Click New Profile, name it after the job (brand-clean-v82, editorial-grain-v82).
3. Keep training that profile with on-brand ratings over time.
4. Note Midjourney’s compatibility rules: Global V7 profiles can still influence V8.1/V8.2; V8-specific profiles are not a free passport back to V7. There is not a single “Global V8” profile in the same sense—plan for multiple V8.x profiles.

Copy the profile ID from the Personalize page when you need a hard pin.

Step 3 — Moodboards for Controlled Style Decks

Moodboards let you assemble specific references into a reusable style. Compatible with modern Midjourney versions (6+), they are ideal when legal already approved a look book.

• Upload or link images that define palette, lighting, and finish.
• Name boards by campaign (ss26-denim-board).
• Apply via the Personalization UI or --p with a moodboard ID.
• Remember: Moodboards do not mix with --sv / --sw style-reference version/weight controls—pick one discipline per job.
• Use --stylize to soften or intensify moodboard influence (0–1000, default 100).

Step 4 — Prompt Syntax That Teams Can Repeat

Toggle Personalization beside the Imagine bar for defaults, or be explicit:

When Midjourney expands a moodboard ID into a code on submit, save the resolved code from the job details if you need archival reproducibility.

Step 5 — Wire Into MidassAI Studio

1. Store profile IDs and moodboard IDs in Studio project notes.
2. Build presets: pers-on-clean, pers-on-cinematic, pers-off-raw.
3. Require “Personalization on/off” in the brief checklist for client work.
4. For localization teams, keep the visual profile constant while translating copy—Personalization is visual taste, not language.
